I had the Boss Hoss pulled pork sandwich with bacon. Side of mashed potatoes. It was excellent. Great atmosphere and selection. X
Steak was amazing, would love to bathe in the butter it came with honestly but I'm pretty sure that against some sort of code. Fried pickles were amazing.... I mean really not a single complaint. Server was excellent and the tall Chris guy was pretty chill, recommended the steak (I'm glad he did). Will return sooner rather than later!
Such a classic in Des Moines!! Jethro’s you can’t go wrong. People hate on it, but it’s so good! Been going since college. I love the turkey melt - add bbq sauce! My mom got the pulled pork and my nephew got the bbq burger. The waffle fries are amazing! So good!!!
Visiting Des Moines for the day, we picked this spot for supper on recommendation of friends. We were not disappointed. Food was AWESOME. I tried the jalepeno creamed corn which I'd been told was awesome... well it was too spicy for my Minnesota taste buds, but could tell it had good flavor. Overall no complaints about the food. Our waitress seemed a bit unhappy but she did well. They might be slightly under staffed. I will eat there next time I'm in the area for sure!
Love this place! No way I was passing this place up when I drive by. Tloin is one of the best I have had and eat one every where. Onions rings are amazing! Lots of food for good prices.
Had to stop by and check it out when we saw the name. We loved the "Beverly Hillbillies." We had the family meal for 2, with the 1/2 slab, brisket, and burnt ends. Also had the smoked wings as appetizers, and for the sides, we had cole slaw, fried pickles, salad, and green beans. Our waitress was super attentive and nice. Sports bar atmosphere, not crazy loud, very nice. Our food was very good. Highly recommend the wings, green beans, corn bread, and ribs. Brisket was tasty but a bit dry. The burnt ends were good, just too much sauce, and also very small portion, especially since you upcharge 2 for the ends and another 2 for the brisket. All the sauces were good and hard to decide a favorite. We highly recommend and would return. We might have just caught an off night for the brisket and ends.
I had an fabulous experience here at Jethro's. I ordered the Ribeye steak with buttered garlic. It was grilled to perfection & was so delicious! Also the Texas toast and beans were good. So many good options to choose from. The waitress was very nice and friendly! Definitely check this place out and see if you can eat the large sandwich that could win ya' a prize!
Jethro's BBQ in Altonna, Iowa, (east Des Moines) had some of the BEST ribs last night we have ever eaten. These ribs were cooked perfectly to perfection! They were even better than my ribs! The brisket and pulled pork were good as well, but the ribs, well they stole the show last night. For sides we had mashed potatoes w/ white gravy, potato salad, jalapeno creamy corn, Mac and Cheese and corn bread muffins. Out of the sides the jalapeno creamy corn, Mac and Cheese and the corn muffins were the standouts. Service was excellent and our food was out in 5 minutes. Excellent experience during our visit.
